Organize your files the easy way using dynamic file lists!

KooRaRoo Media has a very powerful organizing feature called dynamic file lists. This feature lets you create smart playlists that are populated dynamically with files based on criteria that you combine in various ways. For example, you can create a playlist that contains songs with Genre "Rock" from 1980s and 1990s. You could further refine it to only include files that are stored on your D: and F: drives, but to exclude files from your E: drive. You could create several such playlists each starting with a certain song or artist letter, creating a rolodex-style structure.

Creating such playlists is easy using the graphical user interface, so feel free to explore and create!

The latest released v2.0 adds yet another criteria to give you even more power - it's called "not starts with" and allows you to create exclusion playlists. See some of the predefined playlists (available under the Add menu) to see how it works.

Convert your files to be compatible with your DLNA device

KooRaRoo Media DLNA software has on-the-fly transcoding that intelligently converts files that are incompatible with your device when you start to play them, thus allowing you to enjoy your media instead of thinking about file formats, codecs, streams, settings and all other technical stuff.

Some devices do not handle on-the-fly transcoding well due to limitations in their firmware. KooRaRoo always allowed you to pre-transcode such files by selecting them in the main view and using the Transcode dialog.

This has now been improved in v2.0.0 with the new "Prepare Files for Device" dialog. This dialog, available under the Tools menu, will automatically find all incompatible files in your media library that have not been converted yet and you can then select and pre-transcode all or some of them.

You can also set a schedule when such transcoding should be done by using Tools -> Options -> Transcoding settings. This allows you to run manual pre-transcoding during times when your computer is idle (when you sleep, for example), thus not using any CPU when you actually use your computer.

How to change server permissions in Windows?

In some cases you'll find that KooRaRoo server cannot read files from your NAS drive. This may mean that the server does not have necessary permissions to access your folders, because KooRaRoo server is a Windows service and these have less permissions than the GUI.

To solve this, please take a look at this forum post that describes how to adjust service permissions for KooRaRoo DLNA server to be able to access files and folders on other computers and network drives: http://forum.kooraroo.com/showthread.php/2040-Cannot-play-files-from-your-NAS-but-they-work-from-a-local-drive
